I am 63 years old and my story begins with growing up on a farm with four younger brothers and no sisters. I loved the farm and found so many things in nature to keep me occupied, including ponies and horses to ride and confide in.
School was something you had to do and I did not challenge myself too much in the manner of scholars, but I did love to read. I have another blog called Beth Art from the Heart where I review what I read. I began that blog after I retired....one of my retirement goals was to read, read, read. However, in 2015 I have hit a snag with my reading passions. Don't think I will read a hundred books this year. Anyway I did attend Iowa State University for two and a half years and then I went to work.
I'm a Christian...still very much in need of a savior and I love my Jesus. I also still love my deceased hubby, my two adult children and my four awesome grandchildren....each as unique as puzzle pieces.
My hobbies have included doll collecting, breyer horse collecting, reading, stamping and card making and collecting people as in friends. Life is good.
I believe I started stamping in the nineties, took a multitude of classes, eventually sold Stampin Up and had a small group of customers who met monthly for an inky day. I still take classes but miss my inky group get togethers. Now I focus on Artist Trading Cards and a swap I host every other month and one I participate in four times a year.
Artist Trading Cards, ATCs, measure 2.5 X 3.5 and are traded, not sold. They use any artistic medium...stamping, painting, sketching, mixed media, etc.
It seems to me, the inkier I get, the happier I am. I got a D in ninth grade art. That is why this blog is ungraded. I love to craft and I love to share, so I'm honored you are here for the ride.
February brought beautiful artwork by our happy little group of stampers. These miniature works of art are the size of baseball trading cards and I place my copies and my artwork in trading card pages. We worked from the theme: Head in the clouds. We each use a technique from the Technique Junkies group that we subscribed to and participated in for 14 plus wonderful years.
From left to right: Holly used a Dylusions Resist technique to make her "dream" ATC--Shelly made two designs, using the same technique gesstenciled water color technique.
Middle Row: Priscilla used a technique called embossed stains for her beautiful fairy , Dawn used the emboss resist technique and then pearl ex for the wings and Barb used a white on water color technique for her floating head ATC.
Final row: Julie created a shaker card using washi tape---Juliet created a stained glass background and my little balloon ATC used an embossed colored pencil technique against a color burst watercolored background.
All of these ladies have participated in our swaps since the beginning when Shelly hosted the swaps. These gals are some of the best artists and each one is just as sweet as honey. They have tremendous talent and have become some of my favorite people on this entire planet.
Our next swap will be in April with the theme: Under the sea. Stay tuned for more!
